The Vision
“Tropical Tree 2” is a vibrant, slender exploration of resilience and sun-drenched growth. By distilling the form of a tropical palm into sharp, geometric planes, Efosa Augustine Uwadiae captures the essence of a distant, exotic horizon. This three-dimensional piece serves as a refreshing and energetic focal point, designed to bring a sense of verticality and coastal warmth to a narrow wall, a modern study, or a minimalist living space.
Artistic Details
- The Aesthetic: Set against a lively, swirling blue background that evokes a breezy tropical sky, the composition features a singular, elongated trunk rising from a dark, textured base. The tree is crowned with four geometric leaves in alternating shades of lime and emerald green, creating a bright, high-contrast silhouette.
- 3D Depth: Utilising the signature mixed technique of inlay-wood sculpture and painting, the tree’s canopy and trunk are physically raised from the base. This creates a tangible sense of volume, where the angular leaves cast delicate shadows against the expressive, impasto brushwork of the sky.
- Craftsmanship: Every individual component from the slender trunk to the precisely cut triangular leaves is handcrafted from recycled offcuts wood, meticulously sanded, and polished. The contrast between the smooth, geometric wood sculpture and the raw, heavy texture of the dark earth highlights Efosa Augustine Uwadiae’s dedication to a laborious and time-consuming process.
